Documentary.


I had a few ideas as to what I wanted to do my documentary on these being, my diabetes, the history on my village, lgbt and ncs, to which I picked ncs mentors to which I am passionate about and wanted to do something to which I was passionate about, so I had the idea of doing the type of thing that would show what mentoring is like with the help of my fellow mentors, so we could see more to ncs other then the participants having fun but the team behind them, who would support them through their journey of ncs.
My research into documentaries I would so was better then the other two because I enjoyed this more then the other two projects, to which I analysed todrick halls documentary and the biggie and Tupac and the ardmans production to which we got to see different documentaries shown to us, I also did research into ncs (even though I pretty much knew the information already) and getting the answers from my questions that I had for my fellow mentors I felt where good for what I wanted.
 Planning was hard to do because all I had to do was plan the questions the location of where I wanted to shoot in, but I couldn’t do a shot list until I had the footage, and I had to ask for archive footage from the people I used, I had to pick who I wanted in it as well which they helped me a lot getting to see the perspective views from other mentors and getting to see what they liked about ncs and what they did not like.
Production went well I think with getting different scenery for the different mentors to which went well some better then others, I know that in a part of abis interview I started to move the camera because I had to rush and get her done as we was on ncs at the time and I had only realised that the camera angle was set up to how I wanted and need she was based in the middle and having Sam in front of the green screen was the only time I could get him as he was busy with his own course but to which I produced the background from pictures from the cwa graduates page on facebook to which most of the stock footage came from, and I feel that ryans lighting could have been a lot better but it was the same with him I could only get him at that time as he had his own course that he was busy with. At the end of producing the final piece I did have to rush a bit which I will say I feel that this documentary isn’t finished because I did want to get an interview in with Freddie who is encharge of the mentors and who gets to be a mentor because I wanted him to explain the process of becoming a mentor.

The Interviews. My first two interviews have gone well, my questions and my composition where okay they just needed a little improvement, for example to get more of an answer from my interviewee i could ask them another question to elaborate th eir answer, which at the moment im getting short answer some even being one words. screen shot from one of my interviews with Sam. i could have improved on the location for Sams interview but what i did with the green screen with a back drop which was made by me in Photoshop.

documentaries examples

Biggie and Tupac.  The first documentary we was shown was the Nick Broomfield documentary on the deaths of Biggie smalls and tupac and the east coast and west coast, hip-hop/ rap rivalry that went on in the late 96's and early 97's. in this documentary we are shown actual footage and pictures of evidence and footage from when tupac was alive, it also shows Nick Broomfield interviewing people who where related to tupac in someway either that being his mum or dad or his friend, we also see him interviewing the detective behind the investigation of the tupac and biggie smalls murders, and we also see him identifying the picture of the hit man to biggies bodygaurd who had an incident before the shooting of biggie smalls. Behind the Curtain: Todrick Hall. This is a documentary about the well known youtuber Todrick Hall he has tried hes way on american idol but didnt get far, he also tried to get on glee but was not successful with that either he then went internet famous by creating the McDonald's drive thru song, then by doing a flash mob in target to beyonce's end of time. Todrick Hall has gone in to broadway by being in kinky boots and then going into chicago in the west end, he has also created feature lengths which he has also brought to the stage which in the documentary we see him bring his straight outta oz feature length to life, which is a twist on the wizard of oz but telling the story in away of his life from a young age we see him struggling with his father because of his sexuality and we also see how he made each video, which is in the feature length and the story behind each one.  For example water guns is one of the songs which todrick wrote by himself ...
